People looking for housing in Niagara are finding it a difficult task as the region’s vacancy rate, one of the lowest in Ontario, hinders them.
“We’re having a hard time finding exactly what we’re looking for, trying to find the right price range,” said Candace Sumbler, a mother of five and a homemaker.
“We can’t find anything under $3,000 and when we do find something under, it’s not even close to what we’re looking for.”
Sumbler is looking for a three-bedroom house with a fenced-in yard, a basement, in a good neighbourhood and within their price range, but that is almost impossible in the current market.
Sumbler said her 16-year-old son, lives with a disability that prevents him from living on his own as he gets older, hence the need for a larger house to accommodate her family and his accessibility needs.
