Tech update: U.S. climate bill increases urgency for Canadians to scale up homegrown solutions

Canada’s climate plans are under the microscope again after the U.S. Senate passed a bill this week that would inject hundreds of billions of dollars into clean energy sources.

The Inflation Reduction Act, which is expected to be approved by the House of Representatives in the coming days, would see an unprecedented $370 billion (U.S.) invested in clean technology. This will provide a launch pad for green investment and put the country on a path to reduce greenhouse gases by 40 per cent from 2005 levels by 2030. It also turns up the heat on Canada to transition away from fossil fuels.
