New Zealand’s Jobless Rate Rose Sharply in Third Quarter

SYDNEY—New Zealand’s unemployment rate rose sharply in the third quarter as the job market cooled due to the strain higher interest rates, while the supply of workers rose due to solid immigration rates.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.9% in the third quarter, compared with 3.6% in the prior quarter, StatsNZ said Wednesday.
